Summary
Through the pages I have read currently many things have occurred, some more significant than others. Starting off, there had been a phone call at the Hardy’s residence. It was mysterious caller telling the Hardy’s a man named general smith would approach them in their home. The caller was trying to persuade them, making them think that this man was not believable. The boys took the callers advice. Though as the general pleaded his case that he was here to see their father the boy started to think soon realized that something was not right. They thought this man was logical, and that he could be trusted. They had numerous questions about the anonymous caller. They thought back to the call and, as Frank recollected in the distant back round they heard something that they recognized. The call, it was from a diner not too far down the street. Joe inspected the diner meeting their good friend Chet there. Chet mentions that he saw a mysterious man at a pay phone. As they both walked out the diner Chet sees the mysterious man down the block getting picked up in a mud covered car. As they return home a near tragic incident materializes. The Hardy boy’s aunt is almost injured by two mysterious men who approached their home try to brutalize her. Though as the Hardy household comes to the aid of their aunt, the men dart away in the same car Joe and Chet saw at the diner. Meanwhile the general tells Fenton Hardy that they should go on an expedition to look for a buried treasure. It is so important for the general because his ancestors were blamed for the cause of losing the treasure though deep down he knows that this is the result of a bad conspiracy. Fenton, being a detective he could not refuse. The general and Fenton bring the three boys on the expedition next morning. After looking over what they shall accomplish they head out early to a plantation. Driving along they are tailed by the same men that had been so mysterious.

Summary pg72 to 80

As I read along through this vivid story, I encountered more amusing things. As I read thoroughly, onwards this is what materialized in the story. As the three young boys discovered the clue at the old museum, they headed to general smith. As the general gave tips on what to do at this point the boys were set, and they descended into the murky trails heading for the buried treasure. After avoiding various obstacles the boys encountered a rifle lying through two large rocks. Just as the boys were about to inspect the rather mysterious rifle sparks shot off. The gun was charged with some sort of electrical charge. The boys stood back. As they did Chet discovered a wire that was attached to the gun itself. The boys followed the wire to an electrically ran power supply. The boys were in danger, knowing that if they touched the wire they would be electrocuted as well. Meticulously and carefully Joe detached the wire, from the power supply. As soon as that occurred they picked up the rifle and headed onwards to the rendezvous. Though the weather was treacherous, and the muddy forest terrain was now more difficult to climb. After feeling the constant pounding of the heavy rain the boys decided to head home. After arriving home the boys reported the news to the general, the general was shocked and curious. He wanted to observe and inspect the rifle. Frank headed to the car parked in the drive way. He opened the hatch to the back trunk. He was speechless as he re-entered the home and noted that the rifle had disappeared.

Summary pg 80-92

The boys soon realized that there was a rifle convention nearing. There would be a shooting target competition and much more interesting gun facts. In addition if they had any chance of seeing the rifle again this would be their opportunity. So they prepared for what they were going to accomplish, if the rifle was seen. After the General supplied the lucky hardy boy, Joe with a gun needed to participate in the target competition they headed off the next day. Joe signed into the competition. He prepped his weapon, after hearing needed advice of what it take to have a decent shot. The competition was moments from starting when Joe apparently saw the rifle that was missing. Frank and Chet closely investigated, not trying to be at any level of suspicion. The boys walked up to the boy who held the weapon firmly. As they started chit chat they soon realized this particular individual had a steaming attitude. There was no time to waste, and Frank said that was their weapon. The young man was outraged and said they had no proof, which was certainly right. So the two groups carried on with their business. The competition began, with Joe and the young man who had their supposed weapon getting to a tremendous start. The boys cheered as Joe made it to the next round, but were also let down as their combatant did as well. The competition carried on, with Joe and their rival in the final round. There was a ten minute break in between the next and final round, giving Frank and Chet more investigating time on this young fellow. They approached this young man and asked where he was from. The young man immediately was outraged and clubbed Frank to the ground, Chet was astonished and hesitated, not before long he was chasing after the man as he looked upon his friend Frank who went down in a heap. Frank got up rather gingerly, and was also astonished of what just materialized. Though he was fine and headed to chase after this menace. He saw the young man run into the woods and he quickly chased after him with Chet. As the two split up, and the competition beginning shortly Frank hunted the boy down, still knowing the boy had a dangerous weapon in hand. Though the man stopped and cornered Frank. Though from a distance Joe saw what was occurring and sprinted down to the scene and threw a rock at the dangerous suspect. The young man fled with Chet right on his tail after on looking. As the general heard of the news, Frank and Joe reported the news of what occurred to the head consultant, it would be clear that Joe would win the title for the target shooting because of the un- sportsmen like act of the rival. Though the general, and the two boys kept on investigating, being very persistent. They looked upon the sign in sheet to find out the young man’s name, they looked over his name which was Jimmy and also a scribbled last name. At that very moment Chet ran back with important news.

Summary pg 92 to 120

In this sequence of events that had occurred in the following, was quite interesting. Firstly, as we recap what materialized previously Chet ran back with important news. Now, what occurred, Jimmy was seen in a hotel not too far from where the gun convention was held. He was seen talking to Professor Randolph. The four men which included the General the Hardy's and Chet scattered to see what was happening, what they saw was an empty lobby where the two suspicious men were standing. They asked the front desk person if she saw what developed previously, she noted that something occurred, and followed the same guide lines of what Chet said. After they got a quick bite the Hardy’s and Chet pursued what they wanted previously, which was the find the bandoleer, they headed off. Meanwhile the general went to the museum to investigate Randolph. The boys followed the instructions given to them by the article of paper they found in the canteen. They finally came upon the site. After pushing rocks aside, they found the bandoleer, they were so thrilled, suddenly they heard a woman’s shriek, the two brothers hurried out, they sprinted for approximately a hundred meters, with Chet carrying the bandoleer who was far behind. Abruptly, Chet called for help, he was in distress. They took the bandoleer Chet exclaimed as the boys arrived back. The boys heard a engine and in the distance they saw a black sedan rush away on the highway. they then new it was the suspicous group of men. Frank hurried to the car and noticed the front wheels were flat. It was all a scheme, the boys all thought. Frank opened the back trunk knowing that he had to chase the fleeing robbers; he got the spare tire out, just then, as if it were a miracle he heard a car engine coming his way. Frank stood in the road knowing the car would stop. Frank pleaded his case to the driver begging for a ride. They followed the route to the highway which the sedan was just on previously. Moments later after following the highway they spotted the sedan. Then the sedan disappeared into the distance and Frank used his common sense, knowing the car would have left tread marks. The cars trail then lead in to the forest, the man let Frank out of the car, because the man had to carry on with other business. Frank followed the cars tread as it leads into the murky forest. He then saw the black sedan, though it was deserted. He then spotted foot prints which lead him all the way to the museum. He went inside and heard nothing, he pondered about. He then heard voices of a person named Smiley, which was a guard, and Jimmy, they were in an upper level. Frank looked for the bandoleer. Then Frank noticed the canteens lid was not screwed on properly, and as he recalled Joe screwing it on flawlessly. He pulled the canteen out of it's casing and opened the lid. Frank was shocked, it was the bandoleer's ammunition box. He then fled, thinking nothing at all was going to occur, but was heard by Smiley. Smiley chased Frank viciously.

pg 120 to 173

In this final sequence of events, various things occurred. After frank was pursued by smiley he evaded him. He then heard his brother and Chet pulling up alongside the road way to pick Frank up. As frank had his bandoleer with him he told the boys, and they headed home to tell forward the news to the general. As frank opened the ammunition box, he discovered a note which led them directly to the where the treasure was buried. As we recollect the sole purpose of this particular expedition was to find the general’s buried treasure. Though only the Hardy brothers went to discover if the treasure was in this rendezvous, while Chet and the General stayed home. Meanwhile, Chet decided to head to the local community store to get his photos developed. As the pictures were ready for Chet, as they finished the developing process, Chet suddenly observes an odd picture. He remembers the past events that materialized to becoming this picture. The picture was of a tall lanky man spying on the Hardy’s, this had occurred when Chet was stuck in the hole in the ground and had accidently snapped the picture. Anyway his further thoughts concluded that this picture revealed that Randolph was this Bush Character. As he found out this preposterous news he sprinted home he exclaimed the news to a startled General Smith. Chet explained the news, though the General had some news of his own, he had just received some news from Fenton Hardy that the three men, junior, smiley and Randolph were actually thieves who were wanted in several counties, and were noted as dangerous. The Hardy brothers were in deep trouble, therefore the Chet and the General headed off to investigate where the boys went. As this materialized the boys had just discovered where the tunnel had been, right beside a rare and well distinguished tree, just as the note in the bandoleer noted. As the Hardy’s dug in the tunnel, they were astonished to see numerous canon ammunition stacked in a pyramid shaped pile. After this finding they went deeper in the underground tunnel. Then, stopped and listened, they heard three voices carrying out from the tunnel. It was recognized as Randolph’s group; they had come to trap the boys in the darkened tunnel, then they headed in to viciously knock them out ready to find and pick up the treasure. Though Chet and the General were in hot pursuit, nearing the site where the tunnel is. As they heard the voices of the dangerous group, the two combatants ambushed them, and fought them down severely. After tying the three thieves down they contacted local authority. Chet and the General then woke the Hardy boys up after being unconscious. They were then accompanied by the police who picked up the criminal’s and took them in to custody. They thanked the police and headed back to their business. They remembered a clue from the note in the bandoleer, “look coin in the iron” the only thing that seemed reasonable was the canon ammunition, therefore Frank had an idea to scratch off some black paint, to see what was under the ammunition, and as if it were miracle beneath the paint was shining gold. The group had discovered the hidden treasure and was thrilled, of there findings. They had just completed the task in hand and accomplished it with some great pride, and after all this suspense they knew that this was all worth it in the long run.

Response

I thought this book started off slow, but gradually got more intense, if it were not for the slow beginning i would have gave it 9.5 out of 10, though in this case I have to give it a solid 7.
